Practice/Department: Information TechnologyPosition Title: Data Governance LeadPosition Location: Remote - IndiaReports to: Senior Director, Data AnalyticsJob Summary:The Data Governance Lead is responsible for owning and driving the enterprise data governance program. This role establishes governance strategy, operating models, and standards while partnering closely with business leadership, Data Domain Owners, Data Stewards, and the Data & Analytics team to ensure data is trusted, secure, and consistently used across the organization. The Data Governance Lead provides program leadership, sets priorities across domains, and ensures governance is embedded into data platforms, reporting, and business processes.Essential Functions:Own and lead the enterprise data governance strategy, roadmap, and operating modelDefine and enforce data ownership, stewardship, and accountability frameworksPartner with Data Domain Owners (SMEs) to establish definitions, business rules, and quality expectationsLead data quality management, including KPIs, issue management, and remediation governanceOwn governance for reference and master data (RDM / MDM), including hierarchy standards and change processesEstablish and maintain data standards, policies, and documentationOversee data access, security, and entitlement governance in partnership with IT and SecurityEmbed governance controls into data platforms, pipelines, and reportingFacilitate governance forums, decision-making bodies, and sign-off processesDrive change management and communication for data-related initiativesMeasure and report on governance effectiveness and maturityRequired Skills/Abilities/CompetenciesDeep expertise in data governance, data quality, and data management disciplinesStrong leadership and program management capabilitiesAbility to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignmentStrong understanding of enterprise data platforms and analytics ecosystemsExcellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skillsAbility to balance structure with pragmatism in fast-paced environmentsStrategic thinker with strong execution focusEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Data Management, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics, or related rolesProven experience leading or owning enterprise data governance programsExperience working with enterprise data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Power BI, Salesforce, NetSuite)Familiarity with data governance frameworks preferredExperience operating in regulated or audit-sensitive environments is a plusPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Originally posted on Himalayas
