We see this as one of our greatest strengths - and your role is key to helping us build on it.Your Role:The People Operations Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of core People Operations processes, serving as the first point of contact for crew members and people managers and ensuring accurate, timely execution of employee lifecycle transactions. Reporting to the Head of Shared Services, this role plays a critical part in delivering a consistent, high-quality crew member experience through ownership of transactional work, strong data integrity across People systems, and a service-oriented, continuous improvement mindset.
The People Operations Specialist partners closely with HR Business Partners and subject matter experts, appropriately escalating complex or sensitive matters while contributing to the evolution of a scalable, efficient shared services model.What You'll Do:Own the day-to-day administration of employee lifecycle transactions, including onboarding, transfers, job changes, and offboardingServe as the first point of contact (Tier 0–1) for crew members and people managers regarding People Operations questionsSupport standardization and adoption of shared services processes, ensuring consistent execution across teams and locationsRespond to routine inquiries using documented processes, knowledge articles, and standard proceduresAct as a liaison between crew members, people managers, and the People team to help resolve basic issuesEscalate complex, sensitive, or out-of-scope questions to appropriate subject matter expertsComplete employee data entry, updates, and ongoing maintenance in UKG and related People systemsPerform routine and ad hoc data audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and complianceSupport manual data entry, data cleanup, and system corrections as neededHandle sensitive crew member information with discretion, professionalism, and confidentialityMaintain and update operational documentation, workflows, and standard operating proceduresIdentify trends in recurring questions or issues and flag opportunities to improve processes, documentation, or self-service resourcesSupport continuous process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across People OperationsAssist with the implementation of new processes, tools, or system enhancementsContribute to People Operations and shared services projects Act like an owner and assist with other projects as assigned What You Bring to the Table:Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, HR, or a related fieldMinimum of 2 years of experience in HR administration, shared services, or a related roleExperience working in HR systems and managing sensitive data; UKG experience strongly preferredExperience working in and/or implementing a case management systemStrong attention to detail with a process-oriented mindsetAbility to manage a high volume of transactional work while balancing competing prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsCustomer-focused, collaborative, and solutions-oriented working styleAbility to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and escalate appropriatelyProject coordination or process improvement experience is a plus10-20% travel is required for meetings, company trainings, and events You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.We recognize that talent comes in many forms.
